Hello.
I am a high school senior who was admitted into both SDSU and UCR. I declared biochemistry as my major. But for SDSU I have to do pre-major of chemistry first.
I was wondering what school is better for me. I live in Los Angeles and the closest big school to me would be UCLA.
I haven’t toured these schools yet but I plan to over the next week or two. I would love any opinions about both schools. Education and location. I want to enjoy student life while getting a good education. I would love thoughts about the surrounding city around each campus too. I’d really like to go somewhere with a lot of things to do and keep me busy.
Thank you in advance.
US News 2018 National Overall Ranks are #124 for UC Riverside and #140 for San Diego State. US News Top Public School Ranks are #58 for UC Riverside and #68 for San Diego State. Not sure of specific Biochemistry/Chemistry major ranks on US News (I know they are up there for UCR…not sure of SDSU)…check those out if important to you. If you want to become a Doctor and go to medical school and/or graduate school I would choose UC Riverside as they are stronger academically and have a new medical school as well as the University of California System holding national and international acclaim compared to CSU’s. You will have great opportunities at either location though. Definitely take a tour of each to get the vibe which will help solidify your decision.
Choose the one where you’re preadmit to your major if choice, but look at the conditions carefully.
