I am a golden west college student with a current gpa of 2.71 looking to apply this month. I applied to csuf and cal poly pomona already. my major is international business. Do you guys think it is worth applying to SDSU? I am in orange county (not in san diego service area)

Any help would be great, thanks!

You could apply but to be honest with you a 2.71 GPA is unlikely to lead to acceptance at SDSU if you are not in their service area. With the cutbacks in enrollment the CSUs have had to make, competition for the relatively few seats available has become very intense generally and as an impacted CSU, particularly fierce at SDSU. I would think that unless you have a very non-competitive major you would need a GPA of at least 3.0 to even be considered.

I just got accepted to SDSU with technically an overall GPA of 2.88, without TAG. My situation is kind of different, though. My GPA was pulled down by previous college experience when I was younger. My 2nd time around I had a 3.6 for my IGETC. Nonetheless, I was surprised I was accepted to be honest.

It may benefit you to hold off and focus on raising your GPA at least to a 3.0. Perhaps see what happens with these two that you applied to in your service area first. Do you have your heart set on SDSU or is it just kind of an afterthought sort of choice?
