Sealing Envelope? - Home Schooling Mom

Hello all,

I home school my daughter who's applying to colleges this fall. I was just wondering how home schooling parents handled the transcript situation. I plan on printing my own transcript and making it very clear that it's a "Home School Transcript".

However, I'm confused over what colleges mean when they say they want a "sealed and signed" envelope. Does anyone have experience with this type of situation? Especially with sealing the envelope.

Thanks everyone!

Sealed - however the envelope seals…saliva, glue, sticky strip
Signed - once sealed, sign across the sealed flap so if it has been opened, it will be obvious

Oh I see. Sounds simple enough!

I was wondering if there was some special tape you placed on the envelope flap.

Thanks runnersmom!

One more question - would I have to sign every transcript or can I just sign one and make copies?

I suggest doing everything online, if that’s possible. When my son was applying, I, the homeschooling parent, filled out all of the high school parts of the application online, which I found much easier than hassling with paper and snail mail.

When using regular mail, I just made sure to send all administrative materials such as transcript and curriculum in a separate envelope from my daughter’s application materials. No mixing of the two, just like in a brick and mortar school.

Make sure your transcript says “official” in the title.

sooo glad i went through an online highschool instead of doing everything on my own :D
