I was wondering if the same admission committee admits for both schools. The reason I ask is that I have a friend that is going to apply to SEAS (he has a sibling "legacy") but I am applying to CC. Our class is only 330 kids. I'm hoping this doesn't put me at a disadvantage especially when we are applying to different colleges.

Don't worry about it. You're competing against 20,000 people for CC; why are you worrying about one dude. There aren't quotas from each school.

The admissions committee is the same. They discuss the SEAS and CC applications on different days, which I presume is for efficiency purposes.

it seems so hard to believe that there isn't a quota though. for example its obvious schools try to take an Alaskan and Hawaiian every year to prove that they do all 50 states.

in a lot of very competetive new york public schools or private schools...bronx science, stuyvesent, scarsdale...not very many get into one particular school. i've heard people at those schools say that they are at a big disadvantage at times even if they are top 10 in their class. maybe its just one of those myths..

There isn't necessarily representation from all 50 states. Some times they'll say they have kids from 48 states. It isn't a quota per se; it's preferences.
