why is the admit rate so much higher for SEAS than for CC? Does this mean that CC is the better school? If I got into SEAS, should I try to transfer to CC?

Not at all. I think only around 4,500 kids applied to SEAS, hence the much higher admit rate. SEAS is extremely well-regarded, and transferring into CC is generally complicated.

Cut the crap...don't trick colleges: they know when your trying to cheat em'

i filled out a transfer ap for Columbia, and if ur a SEAS person, u have to fill out the same ap to get into columbia college, there is even a box for SEAS ppl to check off on the ap, how crazy

Have you already transferred? What made you decide to transfer? Were you a hundred percent sure about your decision? How difficult was the transferring process?

Self-selectivity. Fewer horrible applicants (athletes with low numbers, people using Columbia as an extreme reach school) are applying for engineering. SEAS has a slightly higher average SAT score.

Apples and oranges. One's an engineering program, one's not. That's like asking if X university's medical school is better than X university's business school.

Do you want to major in engineering, or not? Why would you apply to an engineering school if you wanted to go to CC?

How prestigious is a degree from SEAS?

MIT's a 72.8 on the prestige-o-meter. SEAS is a 67.3. Seriously, what kind of question is that? It's Columbia.

Haha, are those real stats?

Yes, I have my Prestige-O-Metric Handbook: Engineering Edition right at my desk. You can find it your nearest Barnes & Noble.

i read that book; it was very enlightening

"how prestigious?"....you people make me sick.
