Second BA

Hello! This summer I'm getting a bachelor degree in my native country. I've decided to study another sphere, that's why I wanted to get another degree in the US. But when I wrote to one of the Universities, I was responded, that it is impossible to get one more bachelor degree, I can only apply for graduate programs. Is it a usual situation for all the US Universities? If I alredy have a BA (in another country), I can't apply to the undergraduate program in any of the Universities? Thank you!

Depends on the college. Some US colleges do accept students who wish to obtain a second bachelor’s. But those are usually special student categories, i.e., they expect such students to get out in less than four years.

Below, for example, is copied from UC Davis.

I think that this restriction is very common. At my school (UVA) they do not do second BA’s. Same goes for all of the schools i applied to.

Many colleges and universities will admit you as a “special student” if you just want to take a couple of classes, or as a transfer student if you want to complete a second bachelor’s degree. However, there is no financial aid available for students in those categories. If you can afford to pay for your degree here, make a list of the programs that you are interested in, and then contact each of them directly to ask if it is possible for you to enroll there for a second bachelor’s degree.
