Second Interview?!?

oh my gosh. i just got asked for a second interview.
it's tomorrow! i am so nervous. i thought i was done.
i know im def. borderline because my sat's were awful (everything else was pretty good)
i know its basically make or break situation though lol

that form definitely makes me happy. does anyone know if other schools' interview submission formats are similar?

the interview form seems to assume that the interviewer has full information about the applicant: the SAT scores, a full list of ECs, etc.

I thought the interview has no such data. In fact, in other threads (Yale interviews, etc), it was clearly conveyed that the schools do not provide that kind of background info to the interviewer lest that they be biased/prejudiced about the candidates.

Any thoughts?

At both of my Harvard interviews, I was asked for my SAT, SAT II, and AP scores at the very beginning. I was told that they knew nothing about me other than my name and high school. As for ECs, perhaps they fill out the form based on what was discussed during the interview...I can think of no other explanation, unless the interviewers are sent this info afterwards (which seems silly.)

^yeah i was told the same thing about them having no prior information...but i was also asked to fill out a resume type form beforehand with my SAT's, SAT II's, ACT's, AP's, gpa, class rank, ec's, and a few other questions on it. So maybe each interviewer is supposed to find this information out on their own in whatever way they want

That's true; maybe each interview is required to find out in their own way. Each time I was called for an interview (for Harvard or for any other school), I asked if I should bring a resume, copies of my work (I'm very much into journalism), etc., and I was always told to just "bring myself"...never had to submit a resume of any kind.

for my interview [and for everyone else I know in my area who interviewed] we were actually emailed a questionnaire beforehand with a format somewhat similar to this; it asked for all our scores, gpa, rank, etc. and also quite a few categories of extracurriculars, such as in-school, sport-related, non-school related, etc

^jwarlick, that sounds like the same form that i was emailed, although i am from the complete opposite side of the country, and noone else in my area got it that i have heard of. so im thinking it was specific to my interviewer not just my region, which might make sense because he said he used to live in CA so maybe he just brought the form along with him

My first interviewer asked for stats. My second one did not ask for anything, even test scores once I got to the interview (although he said he would ask for them).

It'd be interesting on the RD thread to have the stats include a category whether or not the applicant had a second interview...then we might be able to see what this extra interview business is all about...

I had a second interview but that was specifically because my first interviewer knew my brother very well (who also does Harvard alum interviews) and thought it was a conflict of interest.

I see a lot about second interviews. What about three (technically)? I guess this is mostly directed to smoda and anyone else who went on campus for their interview, but when I went in for my second one they surprised me by asking me to meet with another admissions officer outside my area. Did that happen with you as well?

I'm not sure if I'm just overlooking it or if there is no edit post option (and if the first is true, please forgive the double post), but I should clarify that it was an officer on campus, just one who usually covers another area than mine.

I don’t know how many people are on this thread anymore, but I have my 2nd interview this weekend. gulp

I’ve noticed that a lot of these posts are older – did anyone who had a second interview actually get accepted?

-Seth

My daughter and her high school friend, as well as her Harvard boyfriend and his friend from high school all had second interviews with the same person and all are current sophomores.

Do people with just one interview still have a normal rate of acceptance?

^ of course since the majority of applicants as well as accepted students only have one interview at most
