I matriculated in the fall of 2007 at a very prestigious school, then left on a mloa for depression. Came back during the spring of 2009, and took another mloa. Now my Dean seems annoyed by me and like she might not really want me to come back, and she is part of the panel that decides whether I can come back or not. She told me today that re-admission is not a guarantee and that I might need to make other plans... I worked so hard to get into this school and it's my dream to graduate from there, I'm desperate to get back in... Can someone please help me?

I think you need to show that you are making genuine progress working on the underlying cause of your depression.

thank you for your reply!what’s the best way for me to prove this?

^^^Show what you have been doing during your mloa. How many semesters and credits have you earned so far? You’ll also probably need a medical dr or psychiatrist to explain your progress and steps that shows you won’t need yet another mloa.

You might also want to reconsider if this school is too difficult for you, emotionally. Have you worked with a psychiatrist on this and what your alternatives may be? Made any connections with others at the school? Tried to join any clubs? Going to college is so much more than just the academics. Have you also considered taking some courses closer to home as a non-matriculated student?

Sorry to hear it has been a tough rode for you.

thanks for your reply! i’m not sure exactly what my problem has been

^^^maybe that’s where to start. Could be why the Dean’s uncertain about your return. Def. sounds like you should be working with a professional who can guide you.

college girl, you need to find a therapist and figure this out. You don’t happen to have a problem with eating do you? It is so common with high achieving women in college these days, and it can create severe depression. That may not be your problem at all, and I don’t mean to presume things, but I have lots of college aged female friends who have sought therapy for eating issues recently. My radar always goes that way.
