When I log on to Harvard's Applicant Status portal, it says everything was received except the "Secondary School / Dean's Report," but I know that my school already sent it over a week ago. Is anyone else having this issue?

Seconding this type of question. For teacher evaluations, I know my English teacher sent it in through Naviance/Common App (it says “Download 10/15/2013”), but the other teacher and my internship supervisor/boss both mailed theirs in around the 15th and 12th, respectively. For teacher recommendations, my portal still shows “Not Received.” Is this still in the realm of normalcy, processing time-wise?

I am using Naviance too, but where do you find the confirmation “Download 10/15/13” ?

When I go to the “Colleges I am applying to” tab, I just see “Transcript sent” and “Initial materials submitted” under Office Status. Further down the page, I see Teacher Recommendations, where both of my recs say “Status Completed”.

First off, there is a lag between the time your file is downloaded from the Common Application and when it gets posted as received on the applicant’s status website. The info is not ported over in real time, but requires someone in Admissions to manually check your file and then complete the applicant status website. So, give it some time. If anything is missing from your file, Admissions will notify you by mid-November and you will have a week to correct the issue.

Secondly, unless things have changed, only the required portions of your application are tracked, so a third rec from your internship supervisor/boss or any other supplementary materials WILL NOT be tracked. You just have to assume those got there.

gibby: That’s what I assumed. Just wanted to make sure, though, that I wasn’t the only one with a not-yet-received Secondary School Report :)

They still haven’t received my secondary school report.

Give it until the first week of November as they just started to process applications. See: https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/application-process/application-requirements

You can always call Admissions and ask about your missing SSR. The number is: 617-495-1551. Usually students on work study answer the phone.

Just a courtesy update that my recommendation letters (which my teachers mailed 10/14) were received today, according to Harvard’s portal. So it may take over two weeks for information to be processed!

Today it was updated to say that they’ve received everything. Be patient, guys!

I had this same issue. I sent in my app on the 15th and just today got the message that they got everything.

Umm, still not received! Is the app due tonight, or tomorrow? I know it was sent about a week ago, and I’m pretty sure that my guidance counselor even faxed it again a few days ago.

^^ The deadline is for YOUR part of the application – everything that is under YOUR control: The Common App with essays, Supplement with essays, and an official report from a testing agency (ACT/SAT). Everything else can dribble in after November 1st. FWIW: your file will probably not be read until Admissions receives your transcript and teacher recommendations . . . and sometimes those elements take about 2 weeks to get recorded as “received” in the portal, even though Harvard has had them for a while.

Maybe I’m dense. What is the difference between the “School Report” and the transcript?

school report contains info about your school demographics (college prep course availability, % families w/kids eligible for free/reduced lunch, % kids who graduate, % kids who attend 2 or 4 year colleges, etc.)

Transcript is YOUR grades and classes.

Ah. Thanks.
