<p>Hey guys! My friend (who just got into Penn!!! yippy!!!) was wondering about secret societies that exist (or maybe don’t exist) at Penn. Does anyone know anything about them (…if you can talk about it.

<p>They're not all that secret. They're essentially just non-official fraternities. Two of them, as far as I know, the Owls and the Tabard.</p>
<p>Of course, there could be actual secret secret societies that I know nothing about.</p>
<p>Penn doesn't really have a tradition of secret societies like Yale, because it has an above ground Greek system. The best know "secret" society, the "Owls" was just Psi Upsilon by another name after the appropriately named PU was disbanded for kidnapping someone. Later some Owls members doused a visiting Princeton student with oil and threatened to set him on fire (I'm not making this up). Stay as far away from these people as you can.</p>
