Fact: Though women make up 51% of the US population, they make up only 13% of Congress."

What does that have to do with anything? Women can run for office if they want to. Women make up a majority of the American population and most voters. If they wanted female congresswomen they have the power to do so but nobody wants them.

There is a flaw in your logic. Perhaps it's not that voters wouldn't pick a woman to be in power, perhaps women do not run for office at the same rate that men do. This would only suggest that they prefer different careers. I'm not a feminist, but to suggest that the American public does not want women in power is simply idiotic.

Fact: Though 10% of rape victims are male, 99% of rapists are men.
[/QUOTE]

I'm not so sure about the legitimacy of collegebond78's statistics, but I know that both female-male (female raping male) and male-male rape are underreported.

It would make sense that male rapes are not reported as frequently as female rapes, being that most societies expect the males to be strong and able to defend themselves, which in turn would cause male victims to feel too embarassed or ashamed to speak up. However, I would still expect that female rapes are much more predominant.

Sevitagen, I think you make a good point when you say that there aren't that many women who run for power, but I think that is changing. The fact is that women are at a disadvantage when they are expected to take care of the babies and be the homekeepers.

This thread is stupid...while I hate the double standards, making fun of women is not even funny anymore since it's been over a year and a half since Borat came out....GIVE ME YOUR TEARS GYPSY WOOMAN

And about 40-60% of rape accusations against males are false.

LOL, where the hell do you get that statistic from? And how can one determine whether or not a rape accusation is false? The man says "I didn't do it"?

Are you saying somehow you have a statistic that says 40%-60% of females admit to lying about rape accusations? Because there is no other way to derive that statistic.

If women are treated so badly why is there a father's rights movement and men's right movement occurring in North America and Europe. (look up the group Fathers4justice)

Fathers ‘terrorise’ lawyers - Times Online
"...its members have been sent fake letter bombs and hate mail, had rotting meat put through an office letter box and been subjected to verbal abuse."

What a credible, mature group. Besides the fact that children who are old enough CHOOSE which parent they want to take care of them.

Lets turn our attention from all the gender hate to the more important fact that this thread was only...

AOMs fifth thread in High School Life! The beginning of a seemingly endless barrage of incessant (yet wonderfully insightful) posts! Your legendary comments will never be forgotten.

Despite some of the misogynistic tones of some of the guys here, they do make some legitimate points. I think a lot of you are downplaying the hostilities toward men in the legal system that feminists have allowed to arise. In family law, women are almost always favored because the courts have determined that they make better parents. I mean if that's true, then that seems to point out an inherent difference between men and women. If it isn't true, then men are obviously wrongly being discriminated against. And a lot of what collegebound has said is true like people debating about if women should be allowed to determine whether sex is consensual or rape in mid act. That along with mandatory arrest policies or pro arrest policies in the case of domestic abuse without investigations does not seem right to me.

The worst case I read about (I can't find it anymore so you guys can take it with a grain of salt) was a divorce case in which the guy involved was riddled in debt but was evaluated by the court to have the potential to make lots of money in the future because he was going to become a lawyer. So because of that he was forced to take up a temporary job to support his ex-wife and her kids. If he was to ever at any point to not find work for I think 2 months, he had to go to jail. I don't remember all the details, so I might be missing something, but that is seriously ****ed up.

Well, being confident is one small part of the big picture.

The big picture is that girls go for the alpha-male, or the leader of the pack. Confidence is one of the qualities such a person would exhibit.

A lot of people seem to think girls like a guy that "is mean," but on the contrary, girls like a guy who doesn't have a real reason to be nice to other people (because he's already the leader), but treats her well.
