security clearance

in process of attaining a secret cleraance, how hard is it to get one, etc.. discuss

Not particularly sure why this is in the engineering section... Actually, not really sure why it's on CC...

At any rate, I really wouldn't worry about it. Whatever government project or entity you're working with will help walk you through it, if you need a security clearance. You have to fill out a really long government form that asks all your names and aliases, medical history, and whether or not you've ever participated in terrorist activities against the government. You've got to sign a few release forms for medical and background checks and such, too. The part of the form I've had experience with is the part where it asks you for personal references, since I was a reference for someone.

Still, you don't get a security clearance unless you have a reason for one, and you don't really need to ask about obtaining security clearance on a college admissions forum if you actually need a security clearance, because there'll be someone there to help you through it...

You reference will definitely be contacted.
