Okay, so my brothers are 3rd year seniors at a UC (took comm. college classes during high school) majoring in business econ.
With the economy as bad as it is (abysmal job opportunities), AND THE FACT THAT ANOTHER YEAR OF COLLEGE WOULD ESSENTIALLY BE FREE (EFC 0, no loans), should they stay another year? and would it even be possible to stay (could double major increase financial aid unit cap?)

oh yeah, they have really subpar GPAs (think under 2.8); they could most definitely use another year to boost it up with an easier second major.

Would they rather have one year of work experience or one year of school work? If it’s essentially free I would suggesting doing a part time job…weird place to ask this question.

thanks for the replies, now i have another question,
does anyone know if the financial aid cap will increase if they double major? and by how many units?

^i read from somewhere that financial aid is only given for a certain amount of units (dunno exact, but maybe 130?), and then it increases to (maybe?) 170 or so with a double major.

Im not really sure, so thats why im asking.

I believe financial aid is for 8 semesters only. Anymore than that and they cut you off. If they do give more, it’ll most likely be loans.

I have heard of nothing about double majoring and more aid. It doesn’t make sense b/c double majoring is kinda an “optional” thing - something you can do if you have time to and want to.

oh, theyve only done 2 semesters, (2 more nxt year = 4 semesters in uni total) since they are transfers. counting cc, they will receive financial aid for 6 semesters by the end of their “senior” year.

so does that mean they can still receive financial aid? im kinda lost
