Okay, so my brothers are 3rd year seniors at a UC (took comm. college classes during high school) majoring in business econ.
With the economy as bad as it is (abysmal job opportunities), AND THE FACT THAT ANOTHER YEAR OF COLLEGE WOULD ESSENTIALLY BE FREE (EFC 0, no loans), should they stay another year? and would it even be possible to stay (could double major increase financial aid unit cap?)

oh yeah, they have really subpar GPAs (think under 2.8); they could most definitely use another year to boost it up with an easier second major.

Any opinions/feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks.

bump…please, anyone?

Well if you can’t get a job once you graduate, and another year would be free, then might as well go another year in college and maybe things will be a little more stable in a year, or at least you’ll have more to show on your diploma to an interviewer for a job.
But with those GPAs…kind of a waste to go to college with that low of a GPA.
Good luck to them.

Depends what kind of aid this person is receiving. Scholarships or grants?

Good luck , I would recommend a few more courses (in the second major if you wish) to bump up to 3.0+ overall at least. But still, the biz econ GPA (2.8) is still a concern/disadvantage in the pursuit of a job, and I don’t know what this person can do about it.

theyre receiving grants (cal grant/federal/university), and so far theyve been enough so they dont have to take out loans/workstudy.thanks for the replies…
yeah im really hoping theyll increase their gpas or at least get some valuable work experience/internships by staying another year, but i just dont get why theyre so eager to leave college…
