Segregation at Syracuse?

I read a few student reviews and the one thing I found in common with them all is that races do not interact at Syracuse. Reading these reviews totally worried me.

I really hope this is not true. To current students of Syracuse, do you notice a lot of segregation around the campus? Or are these reviews completely bogus and just pessimistic students who need to post their feelings somewhere.

Princeton Review mentions something about this…

This tends to be a problem at a lot of big or mid-sized universities with a racially diverse population.

While clubs like Black Student Union, ethnicity-centered Greek life, etc. are great and serve a really important purpose, the strong numbers and strong support system often allow people to feel like they don’t need friends from anywhere else.

I doubt people would be OPPOSED to making friends with others outside of their race (And it certainly happens quite frequently at SU, and frequently at other universities), but “self segregation” occurs almost “on accident” and is not necessarily indicative of a hostile environment…in fact it could be quite the opposite and indicate more that there is a strong support system for minorities on campus.
