I can’t really find any relevant statistics on this… So if anyone is familiar with OSU engineering, how selective/hard-to-get-into is tOSU’s honors program for engineering? If you’re an honors engineering student or were accepted into it, could you post your stats?

Thanks :)

Hi. Honors decisions aren’t out yet as far as I know so I’m not sure if people will be able to give you info on that. That said I believe decisions to admit you into the honors college are independent of major, and I don’t believe being in engineering in will make it any harder to get into the honors college.

Oh, I didn’t know it was independent of major. That’s a big help, thank you!

Hi. Son got accepted to OSU honors engineering in 2013…he is currently in his second year. We are OOS, from MA. His GPA was 3.6, he ranked #2, and SATs 2010. He applied reg decision and received an honors acceptance a couple of weeks after getting admitted. The honors letter came from the engineering dept.

Thank you! (: Did he have stellar ECs or any particular hooks?

Not many EC’s, I believe Math team and Science club, no sports, pretty good essay, and a good HS transcript. Lots of Honors and AP classes.

Thanks again! That gives me an idea.

Not sure how important this is, but the average ACT was around a 32-34 if I remember correctly, and the average SAT was around a 1400-1520 if I remember correctly. Could be off by a few points here or there, but I’m pretty sure those are the stats for the mid 50% for honors.

1400-1520 on the SAT is not at all proportional to 32-34 on the ACT, unless this was when the SAT was only divided into maths and verbal reasoning.

Are these statistics for honors students at OSU, engineering students, or honors + engineering students?

They don’t consider the writing portion of the SAT at Ohio State, I believe. I was referring to Math/Critical Reading, which I should’ve specified. Sorry for the confusion.
