Engineering Honors - Would you share your stats

My son applied prior to Nov 1, was accepted into Env. Engineering in Jan and is still waiting to hear back from honors. They keep saying his application is being reviewed. If you were accepted into Engineering honors, would you share your ACT/SAT and GPA with us. Not sure if we should expect acceptance or not.

You may get a better response if you share your stats first.

Stats may not be very informative for you. Honors selection is also very essay dependent, but it is possible to move into the honors program if not initially selected.

“Honors students should have a desire to pursue a more rigorous curriculum and have a strong interest in conducting research during their undergraduate career.” https://honors-scholars.osu.edu/honors/faqs

Sorry - Here are my son’s stats - ACT - 35, Weighted GPA - 3.87, 7 AP classes. I felt he had a strong essay.

My daughter was invited to engineering honors. Her ACT was 34. Her unweighted GPA is a 4.0. 8 AP classes and an engineering track of five courses at high school. They gave stats about who is accepted into honors at the session on admitted students day, so it seemed like grades are the most important deciding factor. Your son should have no problem and I would suggest calling to press the issue next week. My daughter heard very soon after she was accepted. We are OOS, so I’m not sure if that matters, but I’ve gotten the sense from other threads that it might.

@kmnmom - Thank you. We are also OOS. He got Buckeye and Engineering Scholarship. We called today and they still don’t have his honors decision. This makes it very difficult to register for Orientation sessions.

Yay - just found out my son got in. Stats listed above.

@MomMartha, Congratulations to him! Hard work pays off. The honors program at OSU sounds pretty awesome. My daughter was on the fence about honors until she went to the session at ASD. They convinced her to give it a go.

Hi @kmnmom , I’m a prospective student in the engineering honors program who is considering coming to OSU. Can you tell me more about what your daughter found particularly impressive about the honors program?

I was accepted to engineering honors last year and currently attend OSU. I am in state from Columbus, OH.

ACT: 34
SAT: 1560
GPA: 4.6 Weighted
Valedictorian
12 APs / 2 IB

I heard Honors is the top 10% at an OSU Event.
