Hello, we have just found out that we will be at an event near Yale and are going to take advantage of the time to visit, but unfortunately it will be a Sunday morning. I have looked for self-guided walking tours of Yale to no avail (other than the Law School walking tour). Is anybody willing to describe a good route that has highlights? We have a Yale map to help us navigate.

Hopefully we will visit again when school is in session, but thought it would be good to get a feel for Yale's grounds and 'place'.

Thank you in advance.

Street parking should be very easy on a Sunday. Definitely park near Old Campus on Chapel/College and stop in Claire’s Cornercopia for breakfast. Battell Chapel is on the opposite corner on Elm/College.

There is a “Yale Tour” app for iPhone and iPad that shows possible routes and provides info about various stops along the way.

Thanks, the virtual tour on the Yale app will be an excellent start.

Do try to sneak a peek into a residential college… I mean, don’t be creepy about it, but one of the nice things about the guided tour is that they let you inside (they’re all keycard-protected) and residential colleges really do play a huge role in life at Yale.

You can ask a student to let you in a residential college. During the middle of the day they are willing to let people in.
