One of the major things I'm worried about college-wise is motivating myself to get my work done. That isn't something that comes particularly naturally to me, so I'm wondering if anybody had some tips/strategies/advice on how to not procrastinate/motivate myself? Thanks.

Set goals for yourself and stick to them no matter what. Create a reward system for yourself. Or don't, screw up, and then use the threat of being kicked out of school to motivate you! ;)

This is something everyone struggles with, so there are plenty of people who can help you, who you can talk to. Good luck!

my parents paying $50k a year to send me here pretty much keeps me from screwing up.

procrastinating is fine just as long as you keep it under control. make a list and stick it on ur desk so you always have it looming over you. make a rule that you have to do at least an hour of work before you go hang out in a friends room/2 hours before you go out on a weeknight

"Create a reward system for yourself."
My parents are paying God knows how many tens of thousands of dollars for me to go to college. Why the H-E double hockey sticks would I be rewarding myself for doing work that I'm "blessed" to be doing?* Or better yet, how would I be rewarding myself without using money?

To someone like me, that just adds stress which makes it harder to succeed.

I have problems with self-motivation as well, and all of the advice I've seen so far hasn't helped me any.

*I don't even feel like I want to go to college anymore, I just need to if I want to make something of myself. I hate doing work but I can do it (4.5 GPA), but so much of it makes me miserable.

Make your own study goals like tell yourself today I will study this much pages or until this much chapters. Joining a study group with serious students will be motivating as you wanna keep up with your friends.
Set aside a certain period rain or shine like 3 hours at late nights or early mornings for studying. You will get so used it after a while you will be aching for your book when your study time comes each day :)

Doc_Gerbil, when I said "Create a reward system for yourself" I meant tell yourself that you will read x pages or write x words, and then you can watch a movie, or go to a football game, or play video games. Reward yourself with leisure activities/downtime.
