Self reporting scores?

A couple of the colleges my daughter is looking at give the option of either self-reporting SAT/ACT scores or sending official copies (one school said you can self report and would only have to send official scores if you choose to matriculate).
Is there any benefit in spending the extra $ and sending the official copies with the application? Just wondering why one school mentions that you have a “choice” and wondering why anyone would choose to spend the extra $ to send them. Is there any advantage?

For the applicant? Maybe for a safety that they would be happy to attend, it’s one less thing to do later.

Both SAT and ACT have an option of sending 4 free score reports with each testing. So these people may be sending the reports for free. For colleges that allow self reporting, I can’t see any reason why someone would pay to send an official score report.

None.
