Self-reporting SAT

My son applied for a few universities. He said there is no place to do self-reporting on SAT.
so he just ordered to score to be sent without self-reporting. But lately we found one of them actually has a place to report SAT score.
Is it true that most universities don’t allow self-reporting of SAT?

It’s probably better to have the official score report sent to the colleges. Since you already did this, you are all set.

It’s hit and miss, though I think more and more are allowing self-reporting, with a required official score upon enrollment.

I don’t think either is “better” - other than saving $12. With broad self-reporting and almost certain rescission if a reported score can’t be confirmed with an official report, I doubt AO’s care about the source.

I agree. All of S21’s schools allowed self reporting except one. That school did consider high school submitted scores as official so we asked HS to send. They all ask for score reports to be sent if enrolling. We saved some money this year compared to when older kid applied.

All of the schools that I have applied to have accepted self-reporting through the Common App and only want official scores sent once students enroll. Most also have a spot on their portal to self-report the scores. I haven’t had to send my official scores to any school I’ve applied to.
