So I am planning to drop AP art History and take another unrelated course. By the time I drop AP Art Hist., I will have completed an entire semester (Up to Gothic Art). Should I self-study? How should I go about doing it? Is it even worth it!?

I am dropping this class b/c I find it boring and completely irrelevant to my studies.

Do you like Art Hist? Do you feel that it’s going to be a chore studying for the test? As you said, you feel that it is boring and irrelevant. However, if you feel like studying for the test is not going to be a chore, then maybe you should take it.

I know that you feel that you’ve wasted the time for Art Hist when you could have done something else in that semester. So it would seem like you should just take it so that you would not have wasted that semester. If you’re confident that you can score well, then you should take it. If you’re not, then don’t. You could spend time studying for your SATs or whatever else.

Considering that I am a senior who has already applied to universities, I don’t really need this class. I do find this class tedious, utterly boring, and a complete waste of my time. Thus, my grades in the class are not high: I got a 79.6 last quarter (which is a borderline B).
What I’m asking is that is it feasible for me to study on my own the 2nd Sem. portion of the course and see how well I do on the AP exam? Chime off.

since you’re not interested in it
i would say no

by that time you’ll be into your college and can almost taste freedom
so studying for this test is something you will not want to do

but if you are very studious then it certainly is possible
i took AP art history and its really just a bunch of facts to memorize
i got a 4 but i loved my class and my teacher did a great job at teaching it

I would say no, unless you want to use your Art History AP acore for 1 or 2 semesters of elective credit in college. Credit varies with the college and your score. You would need at least a 4, and in some cases a 5, on the exam. In 2009, there were 9.2% 5s and 22.9% 4s on the AH AP exam. Since you have no interest in the subject and consider it to be irrelelvant, you should cut your losses and move on.

Lol, just complete it.
at first glance i thought u were gonna self study the entire thing. (btw to anyone thinking of this DONT DO IT LOL over 321492304932049 pictures to memorize)

The reason why I was contemplating taking this course was because I didn’t want to take a mandatory art class in college. I’ve decided that is not worth my effort in HS.

I’ve decided to drop Art History. Thanks again for everyone’s input.
