Self-Study AP Art History with prepbook only?

My hs doesn’t offer many AP courses, and I really would like to avoid Virtual HS for AP courses- not in my price range nor shall I be dedicated to it. So I’ve made a decision to self-study APAH. After researching a bit, I’ve found that the textbooks used for the APAH course aren’t in my price range either (ie: Gardner’s Art through the Ages)

For those who have taken the exam, could I potentially just use some prep books (the Annotated Mona Lisa) with a review book (REA or Barron’s) to score fairly well (I’m aiming for a 4)?

Any additional tips are very much appreciated.

Assuming you do not mean for next month, and assuming that you have enough knowledge going in to know the difference between Monet and Manet, yes, it is doable with Mona Lisa + REA, IMO.
