I plan on self studying compartive gov., U.S gov., human geography, psychology, and world history sometime in high school. Which do you think is the easiest to self study as a freshman? Or which requires the least amount of background knowledge?

Bumpily bump?

Human geo is okay. psych is also a good self study. I wouldnt self study WH at all if i were you. The rest are doable

I plan on taking WH as a sophomore…I think. I just can’t decided between US gov. or comparative politics.

Human Geo.

But why do you want to take so many AP exams?

Psychology is probably the easiest and then Human Geography.

If you’re already set on self-studying, personally I’d recommend self-studying a harder exam that might look a little more impressive (if self-studies even look impressive to begin with). Maybe try AP Euro or stick with AP World.

@4khaos I’m considering a future in law/politics, but I also want to do something with medicine. I also kinda want to see if I can become state AP scholar.

I might study psych and human geo next year or something like that, but probably not this year.

Which do you think is easier? Comparative gov. or U.S gov.

U.S. Gov is very easy, but there’s some small parts of it that’s easier if you’ve already taken U.S. History. (Comp. wasn’t offered so I never took it)

If you’re interested in Law/Politics, it wouldn’t harm you to self-study U.S. Gov this year. The “med-related” AP’s would be Bio and Chem, but they’re relatively difficult self-studies and I’ve heard med schools like for you to re-take them in college anyway.

^ they don’t “like” for you to re take them. You HAVE to re take them all except Calc/Stats

^Thanks for the clarification. I wasn’t sure since I’m not going to med school.

I took AP Geo and it was an utter nightmare, but probably bc I was a freshman then and underestimated APs, I waltzed in the testing room with like 3 hours of sleep from reading the REA review book for a week and I was sick… still came out with a 4; so judge for yourself

Env. Science is doable, I was horrible at self-studying it, did it in 2 weeks and got a 4, never took Psych (Taking IB psych this year) and I’m thinking of studying AP Comp. too

so IMO ranking of easy to difficulty:

psych < world/geo < US History

*comparative (don’t know yet)

*I don’t think any of the social science APs require any background knowledge, it’s mainly the maths+ sciences+ languages that do

I just realized that I have to take an American Government class if I want to graduate, so I’ll be studying comparative governments this year! I’m going to see if I can self-study biology…

I heard that the only APs the Ivy League will accept are the ones for a foreign language

Psychology. That exam was a joke (I took it as a sophomore, and I skipped 6th grade so… technically as a freshman?). It was insanely easy and I only (seriously) studied for the weekend before.

World history was easy as well, but I wouldn’t take that freshman year because of the essays. You might have trouble with them. Plus there is a bit more memorization involved with WH than psych.

And don’t listen to you when people say HuG is easy. I just started studying (selfing it this year) and it’s really hard omg. For me at least.

Each to her own I guess.

I don’t know where you heard that from - you can google “[Ivy league institute name here] AP Credit” and you’ll find what they offer. I know for sure that Princeton and Cornell give AP credit; I’m sure others do too.

In general, they’ll give less credit and demand higher scores.

^Thanks for the info. I have no idea where I’m going to go, so some credit won’t hurt.
