Is there anythingi to lose when you self study an AP? You dont have to report official scores until you get in. So if u do bad u dont have to put it down on your app and admission officers wont be "looking" for it because you did not take the class. You are losing a bit of money and maybe distracting studying time for any other APs you are taking but is that it?

If you are hoping for the AP scholar awards and you do badly, it will affect your chances. The awards all say something like "a score of __ or higher on __ tests, and an average score of __ on all AP tests taken"

So, if you score badly, your average score will lower...other than that, the money issue, and time, there is no downside

do you get those awards in time to put them on your college apps anyway?, i know theres no monitary award so whats the point of them?
