I am going to take an online AP Bio course online in the fall and was planning to take the SAT II Bio maybe in December. Is Bio one of those subjects like physics where it is hard to self-study or it it more like literature where anyone can pick up a test prep book and ace it?

I actually heard that Lit. was a bit harder than that. Anyway..

I took AP Bio last year and am prepping for the SAT II in the fall. By November our class had finished all the molecular material and genetics with some evolution. All those sections together account for about 60-70% of the SAT II. You should be well prepared.

For the final 30% (Ecology, Organismal Biology, Taxonomy) you will need to pick up Barron's or McGraw Hill. Princeton Review was good for genetics whereas Barron's was terrible, but on everything else Barron's is excellent. McGraw Hill is more of a textbook and covers any gaps.

Biology is probably one of the easiest subjects to self study. Complete memorization will get you most of the way there. The curve is tough but with understanding you can get 750+
