I'm currently taking pre-calculus as a freshmen.
I heard that some people take classes over the summer.
Didn't hear anything about taking AP classes though.
Could you take the AP tests during the summer? (August)
Should I do this, since even if I happened to get a 2, I could retake it after I take it in highschool.

You can’t take AP exams in the summer.

It is possible to take AP classes (usually online or through some academic summer program) over the summer, however.

It is also possible to self-study over the summer. Unless you’ll be using the material throughout the year, however, I don’t recommend it; I self-studied Calc BC during the summer and now I’ve forgotten about a third of it, so I’m reviewing over winter break for multivariable calculus and differential equations classes. I imagine it would be even worse if you waited until April to review.

If you want to go straight into studying BC over the summer…I highly do not recommend it.

AP Calculus BC covers a LOT of topics - AB material plus additional (BC) material. You need to spend a lot of time to familiarize yourself with the topics AND know how to solve them. Covering them all in the summer won’t do you any good; you will forget a good chunk of what you learned. You’re only going to be barely scratching the surface.

If you still want to do that, I suggest you study it during the school year.
