Self Study Comp. Gov. / Macro Econ?

I was all signed up and ready for a us/comp gov class and a micro/macro class for senior year, and all of a sudden they got canceled; now all that’s offered is a combined us gov/micro class; the rest are gone. Is it possible to study the remaining two on my own? If so, how? Or what about taking them at a local community college?

Make sure to have a good textbook for macroeconomics. Read through the chapters and review each section with a prep book. I like PR or 5 steps to a 5. For comparative government, read through the Ethel Woods Comparative Government book carefully, do the section questions, and use the practice ap exam to prepare. It is definitely doable.

I did a Comp Gov self study this last year and I somehow got a five (go figure) without doing any practice MCs or FRQs. The Ethel Wood book is a must, although I didn’t think that it completely prepared me for the test. I’m very interested in politics, so that probably gave me a good sense of all the different little nuances the test was looking for, but I don’t exactly know your situation. There’s also a really helpful online prep/study guide somewhere listed here in this forum in the 2011 Comp Gov self study thread that you must have.

When it comes down to it though, I self studied for this in one semester, so I think if you are pretty decent at history and you really map out a self study for Comp Gov, you should be fine.
