I am intersted in self-studying psychology ap. It is a great interet to me, and my school does not offer it. If anyone has any good books that they would recommend or tips on self-studying (I have never self-studied before). Thanks for everything guys!! Greatly, greatly appreciated!

hmm any particular reason you want to self study the ap psychology curriculum rather than just learn the topics that interest you? or do they coincide? The topics in ap psychology don't go very much in depth. What ends up happening is that you learn the terms, you memorize, but you dont really learn psychology. you memorize psychology and you study psychology, but you dont' really learn it. You can always go read some books by freud, he's quite interesting. I think learning psychology in general will satisfy you more, since you seem to be interested in the subject.

^ yeah very true. AP psych is memorize... and apply... the application part does come in; cause really, everything does involve psych.. like me and friends would start saying to each other 'omg. total hindsight bias'.

anyway if u are set on self studying ap psych buy urself the Barron's AP Psych book and u'll get a 5. seriously.
learn (..memorize..) it all and tadaaa. =)

Still, the percentage of ppl getting a 5 is 18%. Its that CCers are supercompetitive (which is the reason we're so interested in our future college choices), not that AP Psych is easy. Actually, my AP Psych course is pretty bad. I felt that with a week, I'd learn the whole thing and get a 5, instead of listening to bad study methods from instructor

is psych really that easy at your school? at mine it is the second hardest AP behind APUSH. we have to know every single detail in the textbook and our teacher always asks us the most ambiguous questions on tests- on our last test we had a question that asked about one of the references in the book, meaning that a question was asked about one citation in the middle of the chapter. it was horrible, and that's just the beginning. even the smartest kids only end up with B+ but people do well on the exam...

Do all schools allow self study? Do you just buy your study aids and sign up to take the test?

Sorry I am only a freshmen and I haven't heard of anyone doing this at my school. I don't have room for more APs in my schedule (as I already have a lot) but I would love to get more college credits. Thanks to anyone who can help.
