Self Studying AP Chem 2015-2016?

Is it possible? I’m currently a junior in high school taking honors chem. I really like the class so far! I have an A did pretty well on the quizzes we’ve had. I’m liking Chem a lot better than bio and getting a better grade! So would it be possible to self study it (while taking honors chem)? Many people say that you’ll need the labs, but do I really need the labs? Can’t I just find a video on youtube doing the same experiment? I could take AP Chem my Senior Year, but I really want to study in the UK and I’ll want to submit my AP scores with my application (since ill have to submit it during october before I can even take the test).

What do you guys think? Have any of you taken AP Chem, self study or not, and gotten a 5? And for self studing, what books, websites, videos and etc… do you recommend? Please respond, Thanks!

I’m currently taking AP Chem, and I’m gonna tell you, this class is pretty difficult. You can choose to self-study, but it’s gonna take a lot of hard work. I took honors chem in my sophomore year and I breezed through it. I’m currently a junior taking AP Chem and it’s much more difficult.

Yes, it is indeed possible, and I’m the living proof of the possibility. Fun fact: I never even took honors chemistry at high school. I only took high school general chemistry on my 8th grade at middle school.
This is how I did. Use https://www.educator.com to understand all concepts thoroughly. The concepts may be familiar to you already, but AP exam requires you to not only master all the information but also expect you to “think like a chemist”. Professor Hovasapian does an exceptional job preparing for the AP exam, and I was able to ace the AP Chemistry exam. In fact, I was the one of three students to receive a 5 on the exam.

So it is possible. Just carefully follow what the professor tells you on the website, and you’ll rock the exam.

It’s a pretty difficult class. You’re going to have to devote a lot of time and energy if you’re self studying and want a 5. Bozeman Science and Lrnr are good resources.

@swim1128 what is Lmr?

Possible but is it really worth it?
