Self studying APs' Help me w/ schedule

Hey cc,

I'm going self-study AP BIO and APES. I am currently taking AP EURO. I have Robotics every MON and FRI 3 to 5:30 pm and 3 to 6pm. I am going to compete in ISEF and working on a project. I have Tennis and I need to prep for the PSAT. How can i integrate my self-study time so that I am ready when the test day comes? Oh and I do not have any PSAT prep books, what are some online resources? I am using the UCCP opencourseware to self-study AP BIO and APES. I have both textbooks, Biology 7th edition and Principles of Environmental Science: Inquiry and Applications, and Cliff's AP BIO: prep book (I have already bought), 5 test book (coming in mail), and flash cards (coming in the mail) and Barron's APES: Prep book (coming in the mail), and flash cards (already bought). I have both textbooks mentioned above coming in the mail. Some help would be nice ;) :) DO YOU THINK SELF_STUDY IS A GOOD THING ON COLLEGE APPS?

I’d wait to self study AP bio in the summer, there’s an enormous amount of information you need to know, and with your busy schedule + prepping for PSAT, and not to mention school + robotics club, you’re just going to be overwhelmed I would imagine. I would assume self studying looks good because it would show academic curiosity.

Yeah, but please note the following, I’m a sophomore so the PSAT is a MOCK TEST. So that is out of the way. (sorry i did not mention before). So that leaves

Self-Study:
AP BIO
APES
Others:
ROBOTICS
ISEF (via LA County Fair)
AP EURO
English 2 Honors

not to mention:

taking ALG 2 and CHEM @ Calcampus (might, must get approval from counselor)

Taking Trigonometry late Spring/erly Summer and Pre-Cal in summer via Calcampus too.

Anyone there to help?

I self-studied APES. It was no problem. Just set aside a short amount of time each week for your self-studies (Bio will most likely require more than just a short amount) and read the textbooks. Or, you could stick straight with prep books. Whatever works best for you. I personally used both a textbook and a prepbook. Got a 5.

thnx guys keep it coming

Ok, APES is litterally possible to ace in a week, and the last five chapters in Campbells is basically APES 101. So focus on Bio and Euro. I would reccomend taking notes on Bio and doing 2 chapters a week. I’m currently taking the course and we are done with 10 chapters so far. For ISEF, having your experiments done by middle february at the latest. Then you do the statistical anlysis and actual project synthesis ( this takes a long time…trust me) if you make it to ISEF you will have to take the AP bio test there…so be prepared. You’ll be fine as long as you study throughout the year for bio and euro. Hope to see you at ISEF…good luck!
