No AP is “easy” (well besides GEO maybe). However yes colleges are not ignorant to the fact that some tests are more difficult than others.

How do you take both precalc and algebra II together?

^ probably means AII first semester and PreCal second semester.

dangg
they’re both year long courses for me

just use up precalc as an elective

hey,
if you self-study for an AP exam, do you still get credit for the subject
URGENT!
thanks in advance

yeah I’m doing precalc as a second semester elective…

on an unrelated note, is AP Latin Vergil extremely hard? Not that I have ever taken Latin, or that it is offered at my high school, but would it be possible to self-study latin (if you had ample time)? I know that, in general, languages are hard to study, but this is sort of different…

I want to take AP Bio at my school, however I can’t because I got a B in Chemisty, and you need to have a B+ in Chemisty and Biology in order to take AP Bio.

Would it be okay if I just self studied AP Biology rather then take the course at my school? Would that be okay?

@nitcomp: You DO NOT get high school credit for the course. You may, however, depending upon the college you’re applying to, receive college credit if you pass the AP exam (usually with a 3, 4, or 5, although it’s contingent upon the particular college).

sorry… heh but does anyone know about AP Latin Vergil?

Any tips for US Gov test this Monday?

Know about the court cases.

US was very easy. I got a 5 and didn’t think I needed to study very much. Then again, I only ever got 1 B the entier year and that was an 86, so I guess I knew the material well. I used PR.

Just make sure you are ready for the essays. Keep a few events, court cases, and legislation in your mind. Time is NOT an issue!

AP Latin Virgil…it’s one of the hardest exam out there. Even those “Latin Freaks” do not all get fives on it. In my school, 10 people are in the class but none of them got a five. And what do you mean you “didn’t take Latin or anything but this is different”? Latin is one of the hardest languages to learn. It’s true that it is mostly comprised of grammar that you can just “memorize” but applying them and knowing the exceptions surpass the difficulties of any other languages that are offered in highschool courses. Trying to “learn” Latin from the scratch for the AP exam is just…stupid

LOL why do you need a B+ for ap bio?

there’s very little chem knowledge needed for ap bio lolol.

Awesome post… and a question

Okay, I’m taking AP Bio, U.S. Gov & Pol, Cal AB, and Eng Lit & Comp next year… now I took Eng Lang & Comp and APUSH this year

Well, along with those 4 (only other AP class offer is statistics and im not taking it) I was wanting to self-study Comparative Gov and Pol, and possibly one more AP test

I’m taking Economics next year also(not AP, dosent offer it, just Honors, and its doesnt cover all of Economics) and I was thinking of self-studying the rest and taking that or possibly (because of bio) taking Enviro Sci (although i really am not familiar with the subject)… or possible Human Geography (sounds interesting)…

Also, my friend might want to study Psych, what should he do to prepare

For Psych: Buy a Barron’s book, read it, take test, get a five. It’s really that easy.

I only skimmed this thread but maybe I missed it. Have people in here who are self studying been able to get credit in college? My Human Geo teacher mentioned in passing that colleges don’t accept self studied APs but I don’t see why they wouldn’t.

I’m planning to self study AP Psych next year and though I’m probably taking French at the University of Cincinnati (main campus) next year, I might take the AP test for AP French too, if that would be advisable. Just so people know which classes I want to get credit for.

Hiya,
I just have a question about AP’s for my senior year in regards to college admission. By the end of my senior year, I will have taken 10 AP’s. However, I wouldn’t mind adding on one or two more of self-study (micro economics and statistics) during my senior year. However, would this be at all beneficial except for college credit? The colleges can’t see that I am studying for those 2 exams because I am not in a class and will not receive my score until well after the final decision would be made. So, would those 2 AP’s not influence college admission at all?

I am not trying to have roadkill in terms of AP’s, but I have just an “alright” unweighted GPA (3.65, 4.3), and am trying to show that I took an extremely rigorous schedule, with 11 AP’s in two years. (I am trying to get into Georgetown)

Thanks for the help!

If he didn’t show you links to specific college policies, he was probably making that up. My son has already been offered college credit at our state flagship university for AP test scores he obtained solely by self study.
