self-studying APs apparently hurts your app if you have too many (as in, if you have over 5 AP tests don’t self study more). at least, that’s what I’ve been told

^Wow. I’ll definitely have at least 5. How does self studying hurt your app?

It’s merely a theory which is probably not true.

Guys I start school tomorrow, it’s going to be tough to get pumped.

For whatever reason, my school said that they do not provide textbooks for AP Psychology and AP Environmental Science. Would I be able to study the course material in sufficient depth to score a 4-5 on the AP exam from using solely study guides?

(Obviously, I am self-studying these courses.)

Anyone have a book for self-studying AP Comparative Government? There isn’t a lot of books for it.

^Buy Ethel Wood’s Comparative Government text.

I just dropped out of my AP Spanish Language class :(

Does self-studying really help if you already have a large number of AP test? I plan on taking 8 tests next year (AP Physics C, AP Econ, AP Lang, AP Stat, AP World, AP Calc BC) and I was wondering whether it would be wise to add any extra ‘self-study’ classes?

My school offers a MASSIVE number of AP’s (like 32), but AP bio and AP chem are double period so I have no space for them. My school has no class for Physics B, but from what other people have said it looks somewhat easier than Physics C. Is this true?

My honors physics teacher says so^

^Why’d you drop AP Spanish??

Puggly. The class was excruciatingly frustrating and made up of nothing but native speakers. There was also about an 80% chance I would fail. I got into webmastering in its place. :(

I was just wondering, would this make sense?

Would self-studying AP Physics C (both mechanics and E&M) and get 5’s on both qualify me enough to pursue a physics major at a top college?

My school doesn’t offer these… furthermore, AP physics B couldn’t fit on my schedule so i took it over the summer at a community college.

hey guys i need some help with prep books :(

which one are the best?

Physics B
US history
English Language
Psych-self
Environmental science-self
MacroEconomics-self
MicroEconomics-self

next year-

Physics c
BC-senior year
Human geo-at some point-self
Statistics-at some point-self
Literature-senior year
European history-at some point-self
Biology
Chemistry? Maybe? At some point? Probably not*
US GOV
Comp gov???* prob not
Spanish language?***def prob not!!!

^What grade are you in?

I’m taking Physics B, Calc AB and Chem in class, am I going for the overkill and risking my own sanity by self-studying Macro+Spanish Lang+Spanish Lit (I lived 15 years in a Spanish speaking country so I think I’m proficient enough :p).
How do I tell Universities that I’m self-studying those 3 courses?
And lastly, which books do you recommend for Macro and Spanish Lit? (I have PR Cracking Economics+Spanish, Economics for Dummies and Abriendo Puertas Tomes 1 and 2)

There should be a box on your college apps where you can put which APs you’re doing. For Macro, most CCers say 5 Steps.

Hey Im a senior and its october right now. I just wanted to ask if self studying the following classes within this year is at all possible. Im listing them from order of preference/interest.

AP Psychology
AP Chemistry
AP Environmental Science
AP Microeconomics
AP Macroeconomics
AP US Gov. and Politics
AP Comp. Gov. and Politics
AP Physics C: Mechanics
AP Physics C: Electricity (Probably not)

I am currently taking AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics and AP Physics B in school and im finding them…not upto the hype for difficulty lol.
I was the only junior to take AP Bio in my school ever and i scored a 5 last year. It was the only AP i took as well since i was new to the school and its a prep school so they were skeptical of my resume from my previous school. Secondly, the most ive seen from my class is 2 APs during junior year by extremely smart kids coming from freshman year and they are AP Calc AB and AP US. Thirdly, dont take this question as if im telling a joke. I have a good science background and ive started on some of these APs. Are all of these APs possible to do? Which ones can i do purely using Review books. Im skeptical of PR but i really like what 5 steps is doing for AP Chem for me. I really dont like textbooks and i barely laid a hand on Campbells for Bio for the main reason that there is superfluous information that not even teachers go over. I tend to COMPLETELY learn every bit of detail in concise books with no bit of unnecessary detail (its a psychological thing). SO do youhave any suggestions? I am doing pretty good in Calc so is AP physics ‘doable’ in half a year for both sections?

Psych, apes, econ, gov are all definitely doable.

Chem and physics you will need to spend more time on. Depends on whether you like conceptual things (chem) or conceptual+lots of math (physics)

AP Chem is the hardest class in my high school…I don’t know if that’s true for you all.
