self-studying apush?

is reading the entire american pageant really necessary to get a 5 on the apush exam? is there anyone here who got a 4 or 5 without readying the textbook? in a self-study...

it's probably too late to finish it all now unless you're really motivated. use amsco instead if you're pressed for time. you can get a 5 by just reading that.

like i said though, you have a lot to cover if you haven't started.

Read AMSCO for a 5.

is AMSCO really that good? i could know nothing about US History, but read AMSCO, and get a 5?

read amsco +rea and take practice tests.

review essay strategies.

dont use the text too much. it contains a lot of unnecessary info.

Does anyone advise taking notes from the book? because I've been taking notes from the book and trying to do AMSCO. I think I should just take notes from Amsco. I dunno. My teacher keeps telling me that reading the textbook is crucial, but everyone else online seems to say otherwise.

i read the american pageant and got a 4. i think you do need to read the book but also being good at free response questions is important

oops …mistake (lol)

You need a strategy. Remember, you don’t have to know everything to get a 5. On the 2006 AP exam (the last released exam) you only needed a 106 points out of 180 for a five. I recommend that you get a copy of AP US History Crash Course. Read Chapter 1. It describes a carefully designed strategy of building a coalition of points. The key is to study the 41 terms in Chapter 2 and then focus on African American history and Women’s history. Don’t get bogged down with needless details. Let Crash Course guide you. When you need additional information use Amsco and selectively read pages in Pageant.
