My high school is only 3 years old and only has 3 AP classes (APUSH, English Lit, and Calc AB). Next year we are getting AP Psychology, and I'm going to take that online if the guidance counselor lets me (I'll be a sophomore and my school district generally discourages AP courses before junior year).

I am thinking about self-studying for tests that I know I will do well on. I am VERY good at French and I also might self study for US Government. Since sophomore year is generally the easiest, I want to challenge myself without waiting until my years as an upperclassman to avoid burning out.

Comments and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Sophomore year is fine to self-study AP courses. I would recommend taking one of the easier tests though, just in case you feel uncomfortable with the format of the test, and just so you don’t bite off more than you can chew.

If you really are that good at French, you could try it - I have no experience with that one. US Government I have taken, and you should be able to do it. You just have to make sure you get all the necessary work done - you’ll need to set personal deadlines, etc. US Gov. and APUSH go well together though, so you might want to consider waiting and taking them both simultaneously.

You also might have to take whichever test you decide on at another school, but it’s a relatively easy process.
