self-studying japanese

Hey guys,

I'm starting to self-studying Japanese since I already have Chinese as foundation. However, there's a dilemma---I don't know how to convey to the colleges I have applied to that I am doing so and prove my proficiency since I've already submitted all of my apps. I know there's a SATII, AP and JPLT that measures proficiency but I don't think I will get anywhere close to the proficiency of SATII and AP and I don't know much about JPLT.

I would greatly appreciate advice from anyone with previous experience self-studying Japanese.

Thanks!

Chinese and Japanese are completely different languages… for speaking at least

You could probably enter a japanese language competition to demonstrate your proficiency

If you won’t have the proficiency to do at least the SATII then colleges aren’t going to care that you’re self-studying Japanese. There’s no point in trying to inform them of something like that.
