Our school decided to take the AP Human Geography course at our school since they just implemented it into the school curriculum for people to try out. We’ve known that the teacher wasn’t trying to teach the class very much and was falling behind. Recently, he completely quit teaching the class giving random tests and making us teach ourselves. I decided with a few friends that we were going to take the course on our own, but I’m wondering what I should study and stuff like that. Right now, I have the textbook (Rubenstein) and Barron’s. I’m also going to sign up for the educators page on college board for that. Thanks ahead of time.
First, you can relax a bit. According to my son, this was the easiest test - easier even than AP Psych. I homeschooled my sons and received authorization to designate their Human Geography course as AP. They did not use Rubenstein’s textbook though - my syllabus is for Jerome D. Fellmann’s Human Geography: Landscapes of Human Activiites. 11th edition and also Kuby’s Human Geography in Action 4th Edition. For test specific prep they used the Barron’s study cards - I think they are the same as the book just broken down onto cards (but I’m not completely positive) and they used REA. If you want, I’d be happy to send you via PM the syllabus and you could use the break down of topics and study question parts that would correspond with what your teacher is doing. The syllabus was from 2012-2013 - I don’t THINK CollegeBoard has changed this course since 2010-2011, but I could be wrong. Perhaps someone on CC could confirm or correct this. Let me know if you want me to send you a copy. Good Luck!
@davenmame I will be doing geography with my soon to be 9th grade homeschooler and aiming for the AP test. I would love to see you syllabus of your don’t mind. We are with a homeschool charter and they have an outline, but it is not aiming at the AP test.
You seem well prepared and you should be fine. It’s a pretty easy test.
