Semester abroad Post- BA to raise low GPA

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post this-

But I'm about to graduate with a low undergrad GPA (in history and creative writing) mostly due to medical reasons which I can document. I should be graduating with a 2.9 or thereabout. I don't have a grad school major in mind but I do want the option of one day attending grad school. At some point I wanted to get an MA in IR in England but I know their cutoff is usually 3.1 for American students. I know of people who have BAs but have taken undergrad classes to bring up their GPA, and, because I am interested in languages, and international studies, I'm thinking of taking undergraduate classes abroad through a study abroad program in a Spanish speaking country. Has anybody had any experience doing something like this and do you think it's advisable?
