Semester Fee Invoice Still Doesn't Show Scholarship

S has a Knights Achievement Award Scholarship with UCF ($5500/semester). His first two semesters, this credit amount showed up on the UCF statement of charges. He’s started his sophomore year, and the deadline for tuition payment is three days away and the $5500 credit still doesn’t show up on the statement of charges.

Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks in advance!

Hmm…
You could call fin aid but you may be on there for a long time, so perhaps an email to start with.

If you haven’t already, there is a way to set up direct deposit. I pay my bills before deadline and let ucf reimburse me so I don’t worry about a “hold”. It has never taken longer than a few days to get the funds.

You could just pay the bill minus the scholarship amount…i have heard of people doing this.

Did you check to make sure your S met all the renewal requirements?
-Successfully complete an average 24 UCF hours for the previous fall and spring period.
-Earned a UCF cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 by the end of each spring term. Summer grades and hours earned after spring evaluation may not be used to meet the scholarship renewal requirements.
-FAFSA on file as of June 1st

@VABogart

My kids Pegasus showed up yesterday.

Yours?

Thanks @Reebtoor and @ufmomfriend. It turns out S didn’t file his latest FAFSA on time, so UCF is still wating for it. S didn’t know he had to file a FAFSA every year – I guess the thinking was that the Knights Achievement Award is merit aid in the form of a tuition waiver, not need-based financial aid, with which the FAFSA is usually associated.

S is fine on the GPA, hours, etc. So he’ll file an appeal once UCF receives the FAFSA and hopefully, his scholarship will be reinstated. Thanks for your help!

@VABogart
As far as I know, it is merit based. However ucf requires FAFSA for all scholarships (Perhaps an info grab!) My kids need it for their pegusus awards which are strictly merit based.
He will need another FAFSA I think in October…FYI.

Sorry you are going thru this.

Good luck!

@VABogart You’ll want to watch this closely in future years because I think UCF only allows one missed FAFSA. If it isn’t on file by the deadline next time, there’s no getting that scholarship back (at least that’s how I read the requirements). Good luck!

@ufmomfriend and @Reebtoor Thanks for your responses. Yes, we’re now all over this, so S will file the upcoming FAFSA as well and then be sure not to miss any more deadlines. UCF does allow one missed FAFSA, but that’s it. So S will be sure to make filing a priority every year.
