Semester-long apartments?

I'm graduating in December and having difficulty locating any place that will allow someone to live for only the Fall semester. I'm not too keen on subletting and even if I were it's difficult to find a sublet, since most of the time people who do do so in the spring and not fall semester.

Does anyone know of any landlords in the area that allow semesterlong leases? What have people or parents of people who have graduated in the fall done in the past?

It’s too bad you can’t find a group that has one person studying abroad in the fall and you could “keep their spot” for when they return in the spring. Since you are a senior, I’m assuming you don’t qualify to live on campus. I’m curious what Awesome thinks?

Have you checked Craig’s List? Most likely you have. My daughter signed year-long leases, so I am no help. Even though you do not want to sublet, it makes the most sense.

I don’t have much to add to this. I know of a few places that rent by the semester (some places on Dithridge and some places on Atwood) and they were all found by friends who used Craigslist. You should either try to sublet FROM someone in the fall OR get a year long lease and sublet out for the spring/summer term. I agree with MD Mom on checking Craigslist thoroughly. You should also check Padmapper and the Pitt Off Campus housing website.
