oops. autofill from smart phone said “college apparently”. I meant to say “college apps” he feels this reflects badly on his chances of being accepted at the ivy league schools he’s applying to.

I didn’t receive an email? Rejection emails were sent also, correct?

portlandmom…your son’s stats were very similar to the stats of the other CC students that did not move forward. If what CPUscientist says is true, and they use a computer and number based model to choose the students with the attributes they are looking for, he just did not hit the “sweet spot” for this particular scholarship. It does not make him any less appealing to colleges.

Personally, I think Coca-Cola Scholars computer is named “HAL”, and is messing with all of us. Not choosing students that deserve to be chosen, and not sending emails to students to notify them of their status! I also had a strange robo prank call this afternoon from an unknown number…HAL, was that you?

Gotta joke to keep from being bitter…but it can be hard sometimes.

I’m from SoCal and I was notified about 9 days ago. If you haven’t received anything I’d suggest you all check your spam folders. My TASP acceptance and my Stanford acceptance both made their way there.

christena629…supposedly they were sent. My theory is that the “rejection” emails are still sitting in the outbox at Coca-Cola scholars. You will need to call them to verify.

Oh, and if you did not know already, check you spam folder…Coke Scholars seems to think that none of us would have thought about looking in the spam folder when others were being notified that they were advancing to semifinalists and our students did not get an email. I know my son checked about 100 times. Including before we called directly today.

portlandmom…sounds like your son will do very well applying to ivy league schools. I just think this particular scholarship profile, if in truth is computer-generated for the first round, is a little quirky. My son has a similar background and didn’t advance. Who knows exactly what they were looking for, but I congratulate and wish all those who did advance good luck.

vlines - I have checked the spam folder several times haha I must say I am expecting a rejection/denial… I guess those chosen were notified first since they are more important? Good luck to all semi-finalists! =)

christena629- I figured you were smart enough to check your smap folder. Most HS seniors are checking that folder daily right now because of other college things too.

@portlandmom–My daughter was accepted SCEA to Harvard and I assume is not a Coca-Cola semi-finalist (she did not receive an email, and I honestly do not believe Coca-Cola’s assertion that notifications have been sent to all applicants). I, like others on this thread, am disappointed with the way Coca-Cola handled this (I prefer Pepsi anyway!), but I also can’t imagine the process of whittling 84,000 applications down to 2,200. Most say Ivy admissions are a crapshoot (once you meet grade and other thresholds), and I don’t recall any Ivy ever receiving 80,000+ applications. My sincere congrats to the semi-finalists. I am certain you are deserving of the honor.

Congrats to your daughter for being accepted to Harvard SCEA! It’s odd that she was not accepted as a semifinalist…

Well, I finally got my email…

Well, finally got my email today…accepted EA to MIT but failed to advance to semifinalist in the Coca Cola Scholarship.

just got my rejection email woohooo

Got an email just now telling me I wasn’t given semi finalist status. Congrats to everyone else though!

My son received his “not advancing” email at 10:17 tonight–straight to his inbox, no detour to his spam folder! I’m with you bcisaidso, I have always preferred Pepsi!!

Just got the rejection email. According to the email, there were 240,000 applicants this year. (wow!)

Hi everyone Ian from MN and I just got my rejection email whoohoo ahaaha it’s not the end of the world. Noooo why ahahaha.

240,000!??

No Coca Cola Scholarship
(Posted 3rd on this thread, been following it for a while, haven’t seen a legit acceptance post @_@)

That awkward moment when I have 200 volunteer hours, a job for 2 years, 33 on act, 3.8 gpa and am rejected… haha awkwardddd
