SEMO & Mizzou for Engineering - Any experience with transferring in from SEMO?

My graduating HS senior is considering two years at SEMO (full ride) in pre-engineering courses, then on to Mizzou for B.S. in engineering (probably mechanical). Does anyone on this forum have experience with doing this? We are aware of the established transfer program from SEMO to Missouri S&T, but my student has no interest in S&T unfortunately. He would love to attend Mizzou as a freshman; however, the OOS COA is $34K and merit aid offered is $10K (= too large of a gap and he doesn't want to be drowning in debt for an UG degree). We are aware of the residency situation which can be accomplished for sophomore year; however, that saves just $5K (roughly) overall due to loss of scholarship in gaining residency. (While I think $5K is a lot of money, it's probably not enough to make a huge difference in this situation.) Would love to hear from anyone who has transferred from SEMO to Mizzou in Engineering, or in any major for that matter. Thank you!

Looking for info from anyone who has experience with transferring from SEMO to Mizzou… thanks!

Drop me a PM if you prefer not to post. Thanks!

You may want to contact MIzzou’s admissions regarding the SEMO to Missouri route. Chances are, there have been a number of transfers over the years between the two schools.

Thanks, whenhen, will do. I’ve also got an email into Engineering, asking who we can talk with in that department about making sure my son gets the right classes as SEMO.
