Send to IDOC without a W-2?

My husband's W-2 never arrived and his employer requested a duplicate (from the state, public university) about a week ago, but it's unlikely I'll get it before I have to get the IDOC stuff in. I am thinking of submitting everything (including the informal W-2 numbers his employer gave him) with a note explaining the missing W-2 and that I will send it ASAP. What do you all think? Of all years to have our first missing tax document!!

I had a friend who didn’t receive her W2. The employer emailed it to her.

I only wish they could, @thumper1! Mine was electronic, as was my husband’s other one, but San Jose State seems to be quite backwards in that regard! They even needed him to sign a hard-copy form to request a duplicate!

Do you have a final pay stub?

Yes, @oldmom4896. would that be good to send for now (sending the real W-2 when we get it)?

If you are sure you have the correct numbers, can’t you file online and create the w2 in the fillable forms thing? You don’t file the actual one, online. Then you could print out and send the w2 you created with your tax return. You could still explain the situation if you need to.

The final pay stub should have just about all the information that is on the W2.

Thanks for your responses, but the State of California responded with record speed and I just got the W-2! Now to get the IDOC stuff together and off!
