Sending a Midyear Update

I applied to Brown Regular Decision and my counselor would like me to send a written activities update to Brown + my other colleges. Does anyone know what the format for that should look like and if the following activities and honors would be appropriate to include?
(My G.C. said that the letter should be no longer than a page…is this accurate?)

1) Being nominated to apply to be a Washington State Scholar, an honor recieved by one percent of my class and that is based on GPA, SAT scores and other calculations.

2) Running pre-season lacrosse conditioning plus clinics for new players to learn the sport.

3) As the Events Coordinator of my community service organization, helping to organize a Jeans Drive called “Be Comfortable in Your Genes!” to promote eating disorder awareness and planning a charity bake sale and volleyball game against the boys’ community service organization at our school.

4) Helping as a contributor and assistant editor for my school’s up-and-coming literary magazine.

I think notifying the AO of important midyear developments such as nominations for competitive awards or appointments is helpful. If you don’t tell them, they won’t know. One sheet only; the GC is correct. Give the website of the organization if that is relevant.

Since you are sending notice of the Washington Scholar thing, adding a news clipping regarding the Jeans drive won’t hurt. You are getting it put in the local paper, aren’t you? (Not hard; just email them. Look at the masthead for the correct address, and attach a photo).

Brown expects its applicants to be doing these things—it doesn’t make you stand out among the rest – but it does put you where you belong.

Should we notify Brown of any admissions or prestigious university scholarship invite/finalist status? I’m worried they might think I’m trying to rub acceptances in their faces.

(sorry to barge in)
