So I got a likely letter from Brown

I’m mainly asking out of curiosity:

How many people receive these likely letters?

Suppose that one of your grades has dropped from a mid-A to a low-B since the mid-year report. The semester has (obviously) not ended yet and I still have plenty of opportunities to bring the grade up (I’ve just had a few bad days lately). Would Brown see these lowered grades?

Would top schools in general (like Stanford, Cornell, etc.) check up on your post-midyear report grades to see if you are still eligible for acceptance?

I’ve always wondered about these questions, especially after receiving the likely letter. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure on the actual number, but I know that about half go out for athletic recruits, and then half for others.

I don’t think a B (especially one) will have any impact at all. They will see them, though.

Yes they will.

~300 with half going to athletic recruits.

It depends on your school. If you are on a semester system, the next oppy Brown will have to see your grades will be the final report. They could, however, reach out to your school in the interim. They are certainly not monitoring your daily progress.

Yes
