Sending ACT scores to 4 colleges for free?

Hi i am registering for the ACT, and it says I get to choose 4 colleges to send the scores to automatically without a fee. However, I am iffy about this because I am going to take the ACT more than once, so I'm not sure if I should do it... Help?

I know for the SAT that you get to send it for free each time you take the test, but before you get your score back. If you think you did well on the test, then you should go ahead and send it. Or, just send it to your safety schools.

I always send them to my daughter’s safety schools. This way it reduces the cost when she applies in the fall. ACT allows you to change a few days after the test so if she does bad, then I change the list of schools. I wouldn’t send it to one of her “dream” schools unless I knew the score.

Good luck!

It is simply a cost decision. The free sends apply only to that particular test. If you retake later and name four colleges in that later test, the colleges will be sent only that later test. In fact, if you want to send the scores from two tests to a college after the scores are released, you have pay a fee per test. It is unlike the SAT, which will send all scores you have with each send and for one fee.
