I took the ACT with writing, but got a pretty bad composite score but a decent writing score. I am taking SAT october 7th WITH writing, but I really don’t want to take writing because I need my scores back ASAP for college apps due Nov. 1st. Is it possible at all to send my ACT with writing score but then also send SAT score without writing? Also, does anyone know if it is possible to cancel writing for SAT before the test? Another question, how does rushing SAT scores work and with what success? I want to rush my October scores but I’m not sure how this all really works. PLEASE HELP
Many schools specific the writing to be included in the same test. You should still submit your ACT score to make your application complete before deadline while pending for the SAT score. You should not remove the writing part from it.
Take the SAT with writing. The composite score is also more important than the writing score so it’s better to submit the test with the higher composite. Also check the schools to see which is the last test date they will accept. You may be fine with the October 7 date, especially if you order your scores early.
@billcsho is correct - for many schools you cannot mix and match writing from one test and composite from the other.
Schools will not take a writing segment from one test and match to the other. If you need the writing test then take it. As far as rushing scores, I’ve read that only makes a difference of a day or two. Everything is electronic these days.
Almost all the colleges that have a November 1 early action or early decision application deadline accept October test scores even if the arrive after Nov 1; in fact, many of them even accept November SAT scores for EA or ED. Moreover, almost all of them do not want scores sent rush (in fact, if the college has electronic delivery of scores from the College Board – all or almost all colleges do – sending scores rush often accomplishes getting the scores to the college at the same time as those who send them regular delivery or only 1 day before then. In other words, before deciding what to do check with the colleges to which you intend to apply for their actual rules on when and how test scores must be sent.
Do you really have to pay the FEE twice if you want to send TWO dates worth of ACT scores? At $13 apiece, with 12 schools, that would be an extra $156, seems crazy.
