I have a long list of activities that I would like to show to my colleges.
It has been really difficult for me fit in these activities in the CommonApp.

For example: I have won numerous art competition on the National Level. However, I can fit in the names of only 2 within the 50 characters space provided in CommonApp.

Should I put my resume in an application packet and courier it to the university?
Please mention which universities I should send the packet to and to which not.

Here is a list of colleges I am applying to:

Add them to the “addit info” section of the common app. Do not send an attached resume w/your application via courier to ANY college on the planet. Use the common app and submit per their desires.

Often, we read of students who feel the the CA doesn’t have enough space for awards or ECs. Colleges, feel the opposite. They sift through tens of thousands of apps of mostly similar kids w/a wide but predictable suite of ECs and awards-- most are rather indistinguishable from others or from applicants from years past. It’s a shock to the applicants, whose lives and souls are invested in these activities – but a nameless/faceless adult will peruse your app, EC & award list and/or resume and summarize you in two sentences after 30 seconds of reading your material. That’s the cold fact of distilling you to something useful for them.

Your multi-layered resume/award list – will be ground down to raw elements. That’s why most colleges discourage the use of a resume to be frank. I’m glad for your awards but is anything REALLY learned more about you by reading, by name, your 15th and 16th National award?

Create an Activity called “Art Competitions” or something like that. In that tiny space they give you, put “See Additional Information”. Put a header in the additional info section that matches your activity name, and then bullet out the items (concisely) underneath. You may need to type it in a plain text tool (not Word) and copy/paste from there to get correct formatting.

However, I have already submitted my GeorgiaTech and UMich application as I am applying early. And I haven’t included my activities in the section yet.

My further colleges will receive the extended list, but what about these two? They have my application already with a blank additional information section.
