Not sure where this would go- In my AP Lit. class we had to write personal stories for class. My teacher nominated mine to be read at Teen Arts in the spring, and my principal is trying to get it published in a newspaper. My teacher has been pushing for me to email colleges with this update and essay, but I don't really think that's what you're supposed to do. Should I send this to colleges, or is this too much? Btw, I applied to all my colleges in November, so would this even help with a decision?

Maybe you should ask your guidance counselor. They might not get it in time or even look at it if you do update though. Do you know when you’re supposed to hear of your admissions decisions?

It can’t hurt to send a letter to your admissions officer at each school with the essay and maybe to let them know your fall semester grades were good, or whatever other updates you have. You can send by email.

WHEN it gets published in a newspaper you can send an update.

IMO, the deadline is over and you’ve already submitted your application, you shouldn’t be sending an additional essay just because it’s good. Take a look at the college websites and see what they give as guidelines for updates.
