I submitted my application to one college ,but , Now, I think I should have added 3 lines to my WHY this College essay, Can I do that now by e-mailing admissions or something ?

They may or may not consider it. Send a friendly email asking if you can.

No, it’s been submitted. Updates, not edits are accepted.

Even if they’d take it, which I doubt they would, I wouldn’t even ask about it. It sends the message, “I didn’t do my best work before the deadline.”

What about sending it as a supplement , I have worked out a new essay but it still deals with why this university ?, Is that fine ?

That’s a distinction without a difference. No, I wouldn’t do that.

“I was named to the all-state basketball team” is an update. So is, “I had a poem published in this magazine.” Sending another version of your essay is just trying to get another bite of the apple.

Okay, my essay is quite different from the last one, It handles different aspects of the school . The university is Uchicago, they mentioned 1-2 paragraph limit on the why uchicago essay, I wasn’t able to write more than that.

My new essay is pretty good, Its different from the last one ?
Should I upload it as supplement writing ?

^Why do you think you should be able to submit an extra essay after the deadline?

There are deadlines, length limits, etc. for a reason. Everyone is subject to these rules, you are no different. And I would add: you don’t want Adcoms to think that YOU think you are different and not subject to the policies that all other applicants follow.

Almost a duplicate thread:

Okay, Thank You for the help, Its just that this essay is different and very good.
I thought it might boost my chances.

Unfortunately, the answer is that the deadline has passed. Chicago has your application, and they’ll make a decision based on what they already have.

Good luck.
